If the question uses 55 degrees celsius, and u need to convert it into Kelvins, so it can be used properly in the formula. Would my answer remain with 2 significant figures or 3? When you add 273 to 55 it becomes 3. (all other data is given with 4 significant figures)

adding and subtracting uses the least precise number to figure sig figs
so the 55 +273= 318 would be 3 sig figs as both numbers are the same precision. Another example: 123.55 + 34= 157.55 BUT 34 is the least precise number so the decimals are insignificant so it must be rounded to 158 which is 3 sig figs
Don’t forget these are all measured numbers where the last digit is estimated. In the case of 34 that number could have been 33.5 or 34.4 both round to 34

Can someone please use the simplest and easiest method possible to explain (the rules of) significant digits/figures please! I am struggling with this tremendously!

My teacher said, "Atlantic, Pacific." Think of the United States and on the left you have the Atlantic and Pacific on the right. If there are no decimals, if they are ABSENT (A – Atlantic) start from the first non-zero digit on the left and count to the right. If there IS a decimal, PRESENT (P- Pacific) start from the first digit on the right and count to the left.

I found out that the answer is: 3 significant figures. But, I don’t understand why is it 3. Shouldn’t it be the number of the fewest decimal places in the question which is 1 in this case? I don’t understand why the correct answer is 3. Please explain.

When adding, you look at the actual precision of the two numbers, not the number of significant figures.

2.333 x 10^3 = 2333 (accurate to the "ones" digit)
1.1 x 10^2 = 110 (acurate to the "tens" digit)
So the sum is accurate to the tens digit,
i.e. 2443, which you then round to the nearest ten, making in 2440

For a more extreme example:
1234000 + 7 = 1234007, which you then round to the nearest thousand, i.e. 1234000. The one digit 7 does not force you to round it to 1 significant figure.

I have a huge, unopened collection of wrestling figures that are over ten years old. I have over 40 packs and its cool stuff, like Stone Cold, HHH, and the Rock. I recently had a daughter and could use money more that a hobby. I tried EBay and basically sold 2 figures for like $5 total and lost a lot of money. If anyone has any suggestions on how I could sell these I would appreciate the help.

There might be some "collectors” in ur area. So try hitting someone you think likes to buy those figures. I bet you can find some.
